The Manatee Arts Education Council hosted the first annual Arts Rise & Shine Leadership Breakfast on November 15, 2019 at Feld Entertainment Studios in Palmetto, FL. The purpose of Arts Rise & Shine is to convene school district and community leaders, arts educators, local arts advocates, and MAEC members to analyze the status of arts education in our community, examine current trends and best practices in arts education, and engage in meaningful conversations regarding the advancement of arts education in our Manatee County.
The Arts Rise & Shine program included outstanding student performances and student visual artwork on display, a State of the Arts delivered by SDMC Arts Curriculum Specialist, Julie Hebert, and an inspiring keynote address on the power of arts education for all students from the 2019 Grammy Music Educator of the Year, Dr. Jeffrey Redding. MAEC was also pleased to present the 2019 MAEC Arts Education Grants to 15 schools.
